The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has unveiled the team names and icon players for the much-anticipated inaugural Kerala Cricket League (KCL). This exciting announcement followed a franchise team owners’ meeting at KCA’s headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.
The KCL will feature six teams, each bringing its own unique flavor to the tournament. The Thiruvananthapuram franchise, helmed by renowned film director Priyadarshan and Jose Thomas Pattara, will be known as the Trivandrum Royals. The Ernakulam team, owned by Enigmatic Smile Rewards, will be called the Kochi Blue Tigers. The Kozhikode team, backed by EKK Infrastructure Limited, will compete as the Calicut Globstars.
Iconic players have been designated for each team: Abdul Bazith for the Trivandrum Royals, Sachin Baby for the Aries Kollam Sailors, Mohammed Azharuddeen for the Alleppy Ripples, Basil Thampi for the Kochi Blue Tigers, Vishnu Vinod for the Thrissur Titans, and Rohan Kunnummal for the Calicut Globstars.
The Kerala Cricket League is set to take place from September 2 to 18 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Renowned actor Mohanlal has been appointed as the brand ambassador for this premier T20 event.
